40 years of private broadcasting

On April 1, 1984, radio and television programs were launched in Bavaria in the Munich cable network Three months earlier, on January 1, 1984, the first TV program “PKS Programmgesellschaft für Kabel- und Satellitenrundfunk” (predecessor of SAT.1) had already started broadcasting in Ludwigshafen.

40 years of private broadcasting means 40 years of creative program ideas, 40 years of outstanding presenters, 40 years of first-class journalistic know-how. To mark the occasion, the BLM invited guests. Minister President Dr. Markus Söder, Bert Habets, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, as well as Bianca Bauer-Stadler, Jürgen Doetz and Dr. Georg Kofler, early and leading figures in private TV, came and spoke. Radio veteran Georg Dingler spoke with radio legends Dorothea Seitz and Stefan Lehmann about the first steps in private radio in Bavaria as well as its further development. In a panel discussion on democracy and media, Minister of State for Media Dr. Florian Herrmann, former Minister President Dr. Edmund Stoiber and the former President of the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for New Media, Prof. Dr. Wolf-Dieter Ring.
